Queensland Reds head coach Les Kiss has named 11 debutants to face the Wild Knights. Center Lawson Creighton, who is captaining Queensland for the first time, will lead a squad of 10 players with Super Rugby experience.

Keith said he wanted the Reds to play a “progressive, aggressive style of rugby” under his leadership and was keen to see how his side would fare against the Wild Knights, coached by former Wallaby mentor Robbie Deans.

Deans said the opportunity to travel to and play against the Reds had made his team “better” and he hoped his team would “perform better than last year”.

Keith is backing 28-year-old Jock Campbell, who returns to the Kangaroos after four Tests under former coach Dave Rennie. Current Kangaroos coach Eddie Jones overlooked Campbell’s chances of playing in Tests and the World Cup, but Keith said Campbell “hasn’t kicked a ball” and has the “heart and talent” to return to the national team.

The game will be played at Ballymore on Saturday at 7:30pm.
